ASM: A Resource for Reporters
The Associated Subcontractors of Massachusetts (ASM) is available to answer a wide variety of questions on building construction and contracting in Massachusetts. We also offer information about current and upcoming construction projects, and insight into the impact of legislative proposals, regulatory changes and enforcement initiatives.

In 2009, ASM is actively involved in these high-profile and economically important issues:
- Competitive bidding process— assuring fairness in the awarding of public contracts
- Implementation of public construction reform, including certification and prequalification of subcontractors
- Implementation of "Construction Management at Risk" alternative procurement on large-scale public projects
- Promotion of fair contract terms in private construction in connection with payments and risk transfer
- Massachusetts' Independent Contractor Law — implementation and enforcement
- Compliance with immigration law and employee verification requirements
- Improvement of jobsite safety
- Massachusetts' OSHA 10-hour training requirements — enforcement in public construction
ASM has been the industry voice of subcontractors for more than 50 years. As such, we are a helpful resource on articles highlighting construction projects, contract awards, subcontracting companies, and construction-related legislative and regulatory changes.
Please contact CEO Monica Lawton for further information, or to speak with any of ASM's volunteer leaders.
